Zimbabwean trainer in to drill Masamba

Namisonga Boxing Promotions has hired Zimbabwean boxing trainer Denver Wayne to drill Limbani Masamba, the newly crowned Malawi welterweight champion.

The stable’s managing director, Francis Chibisa, said on Wednesday that they want to give Masamba the best training so that he develops to his potential.

“We still feel he is in his developing stage and needs all the expertise to help him master the basics,” said Chibisa.

Since turning professional early this year, Masamba has fought four times, winning all with knockouts.

“I train for knockouts and people should expect more knockouts from me. I do not see any challenge on the local scene,” Masamba said on Friday.

The 18-year-old says he wants to reach greater heights than his father ‘School Boy’ Masamba, a top boxer in the 1980s and his siblings Wilson and John who are active in professional ranks.
