Surestream Stadium sale put on hold
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has shelved plans to dispose of Surestream Stadium as the association is repositioning its marketing drive.
FAM president Walter Nyamilandu had in his manifesto indicated that the facility, formerly MDC Stadium, should be sold because it was not making profits. He suggested that the funds should be invested in other business ventures.
But yesterday Nyamilandu said they had put the move on hold pending consultations.
“We have to be diligent first and weigh the pros and cons. It needs thorough and wider consultations, hence we can’t rush into it,” said Nyamilandu.
Surestream Academy founder Chris Pitman said in the long term, they still harbour plans to buy the facility.
