Ten Big Brother Africa hopefuls are a few inches away from representing Malawi at this year’s series that kicks off on September 6.

After a gruelling three days of auditions at Crossroads Hotel, the 10 beat 70 hopefuls to progress into what is believed to be the last call back auditions to be held in South Africa.

“There was a good turn up as cumulatively, we auditioned 80 people. The number was later reduced to 20 where the aspirants did individual interviews as well as group tasks which were both recorded on camera.

“The group tasks presented a new dimension in as far Big Brother Africa auditions are concerned and it also accorded the people a chance to either eliminate or save each other within the group, on the basis of who was not a team player or threat and what not,” explained MultiChoice Malawi’s sales and marketing manager Chimwemwe Nyirenda.

The number, according to Nyirenda, was further trimmed to 10 after the group tasks.

“While there will be a team that will analyse the recordings, this is where Malawi’s representative will come from obviously, though at this stage we do not know how many Endemol, the series producer, is looking for. But I must say the quality was good and highly competitive which to us signals that people fully understand what the show demands,” he said.

However, according to Big Brother Africa rules, the identities of the 10 aspirants cannot be revealed.
