Neef rolls out K3bn loans toconstituencies
National Economic Empowerment Fund (Neef) has unveiled an initiative to disburse K3 billion in each of Malawi’s constituencies to empower young people and women through accessible financial support.
Neef chief executive officer Humphrey Mdyetseni announced the plans on Friday in Mangochi during a youth engagement forum where he addressed hundreds of young people from various communities.

He said: “This initiative is more than just about providing loans. It is about creating a culture of self-reliance and entrepreneurship among Malawians, particularly the youth and women who are often sidelined in formal economic structures.
“By channelling K3 billion into each constituency, we are decentralising economic empowerment and ensuring that no part of the country is left behind.”
Mdyetseni said the fund is prioritising sectors such as irrigation farming, livestock production, small-scale trade and value addition enterprises.
Mangochi Youth Empowerment Forum chairperson Chimwemwe Kaponda expressed optimism that the initiative will transform the economic landscape for youths in rural areas.
