69 youths acquire technical skills
Malawi Relief Fund-UK and the Issa Foundation have equipped 69 youths from Blantyre with technical skills to empower them economically.
The youth underwent three years of training in electrical installation and electronics, carpentry, plumbing and bricklaying at Maone Technical Vocational School in Blantyre.
Speaking on Saturday during the certificate presentation ceremony at the centre, Malawi Relief Fund-UK chief executive officer Muhammad Mangera said the foundation used K1.6 billion to implement the programme.

“At Malawi Relief Fund-UK and Issa Foundation, we believe every young person deserves an opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background. That is why we invest in this programme,” he said,
He said the foundation provides free vocational training, learning materials, practical resources and daily meals, allowing young people to focus on skill development only.
Mangera said graduates leave the institution equipped not only with certificates, but also with starter toolkits to start their journey into self-employment.
Malawi Relief Fund-UK programmes manager Munila Abdullah noted that misconceptions about technical skills often fuel poverty among youths.
“My message is simple: You hold the ball in your hands. You have the tools and skills to succeed. As you step out of the gate, you can start making money immediately,” she said.
A graduate in electrical installation and electronics, Ishmael Mickdad, thanked the foundation for equipping him with valuable skills.
He described the toolkits as a boost for contributing meaningfully to the nation
