Men’s hygiene issues

Listen to this article

A good percentage of men seems not to care much about their hygiene, well because they are men they say. Little do they know that there are certain hygiene issues that women wish their men could work on. MWERETI KANJO took the matter to women and this is what they said.

Annelisa Banda from Lilongwe says:

There is this thing or belief that men should not shave their underarms, but it is disturbing when they lift their arms and there is all this bush hair. They must reconsider that. The hair keeps smell and it’s not healthy. They must stop showing us their dirty boxers in the name of sagging. If they are dirty, keep them covered and worse, they must remember to wear clean socks. If they have a pair, they must wash them overnight.

Ruth Banda from Blantyre says:

Men must clean in their ears. It is not cute when you see a guy with dirty ears because whatever they are saying is overshadowed by how dirty their ears are. Cleaning is easy. If there are no cotton buds, wrap cotton on a match stick. No hassle.

Lucy Mkamanga from Bangwe in Blantyre had this to say:

Most men refuse to moisten their bodies. You have a nicely dressed, smart-looking man, but when they sit down and their trouser reveals their legs, you see a leg that looks like it’s got scales. Men may not want to believe it, but such things put off women too.

Stella Katantha of Chigumula, Blantyre thinks:

There is just so much that I wouldn’t even know where to start from. Men must wear clean socks. You go into a guy’s room, it smells like bad rice; it’s the socks. Men must clean their underwear. There is no excuse; whoever you are, underwear is meant to be worn once. The same goes for their clothes. You can only wear a shirt once. We all have a body odour that we can rarely smell ourselves. It sticks to the clothes. If you wear a shirt more than once, it stinks.
