Why worry?

Listen to this article

I put off writing my editor’s letter until the very last minute this week, because I just couldn’t write, even though I tried hard to get inspired enough to do a beautiful piece. Perhaps the mid-week holiday slowed me down a little or maybe the changing weather and the irritating flu that’s come with it left me all muddled up.

Whatever the case, I really tried to come up with an outpouring that would touch the depths of your soul and arouse your curiosity. Unfortunately, my muse failed me. It was as if the words had been stuck to the back of my mind and they just could not come to the surface. It just shows, one of life’s little secrets, that sometimes things come to us not when we least expect them, and not always because we have planned, worked and prayed for them.

So, I shall do the next best thing; unearth a little something to inspire both you and me and perhaps push us to strengths we never thought we could possess, as we go through life’s joys bright and dark moments, as we are stressed and as we laugh or marvel at the beautiful things God put on this amazing planet.

“Worry drains life of its force. It stagnates the minds, creates an imbalance in the immune system, weakens your power and impairs the ability to see beyond the thing being worried about. We worry about the past and future. We worry about things we can’t do or have not done and how they’ll affect what we are doing right now. We worry about what we do not have, , cannot get and things we’ve lost. Worry creates confusion, disorder and helplessness, which lead to more worry because we cannot figure things out. We must eliminate the tendency to worry about whether things will work out. Write down the situation creating worry and write it down. Make a commitment to yourself to let it go and move on. Stop worrying; stop blaming; stop being angry and outraged. Look at the situation from all sides. Look for your lesson and your share of the responsibility. Then turn within and listen for guidance.

Whatever situation you find yourself in today, your mind put it there. Your thoughts direct the flow of activity into and out of your life. Your mind can make you ill. Your mind can make you well. Your mind can strengthen your relationships with the people around you. Your mind can chase all your friends and suitors away. Your mind can make you wealthy or keep you broke.

At all times and in all situations, if you don’t like where you find yourself, change what’s going on at the top. Sometimes you may find yourself blaming others for your misfortunes. If you know who you are, that won’t happen. By understanding that you are the creator of your world, you take full responsibility for your life. This includes your spiritual life, your physical life, every thought, word, deed and action.”
