Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) tenants must prepare to dig deeper into their pockets effective July 1 following rentals adjustments.
Some tenants have already received letters from MHC indicating a 10 percent increment. The percentage, however, varies from house to house.
MHC spokesperson Ernestina Lunguzi on Monday confirmed the news, but said she could only provide detailed information today.
Companies in the telecommunications sector, parastatals that offer essential services such water boards and the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) have recently increased their tarriffs in the face of kwacha devaluation.
So too are prices of essential commodities such as sugar that have also been going up in recent months even when the Malawi kwacha has started appreciating.
