Andrew Nyirenda acting Chief Justice

Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal Judge Andrew Nyirenda is acting as Chief Justice following the retirement of Anastasia Msosa on February 28 2015.

Andrew-NyirendaJudiciary spokesperson Mlenga Mvula confirmed yesterday that Nyirenda is heading the Judiciary in an acting capacity pending President Peter Mutharika’s appointment of Msosa’s successor.

Mvula said by virtue of being the most senior serving judge, Nyirenda automatically assumed the top most position in the Judiciary.—Edwin Nyirongo, Staff Writer

  1. Looks like the president was not informed in time that Ms Msosa is retiring otherwise he would have already appointed a replacement by now.
    Now that the public is aware that Mr Nyirenda is the most senior serving Judge, the president’s hands are constrained around his balls so much so that it will be hard for him to pick a Mulahko sympathiser judge to replace the Chief Justice.
