Apostle Kawinga supports food-insecure families

 Salvation for All Ministries International has donated maize flour to communities in Traditional Authority Nyezelera in Phalombe District to cushion them from hunger.

Speaking before making the donation at Nyezelera Primary School, the ministry’s founder Apostle Clifford Kawinga said Phalombe is among districts experiencing hunger because of prolonged dry spells; hence, reaching out to them.

He said: “We preach to people who are alive and not the dead and it is our responsibility to take care of their minds, bodies and souls, especially when they are in crisis.

“It’s not about having a lot of money, but having the heart of Jesus who called us to love one another and that love is manifested through good deeds.”

The apostle asked Malawians to embrace the spirit of loving and supporting one another in times of calamities by sharing the little resources they have.

Kawinga also called on people in Phalombe and other districts to venture into irrigation farming to eradicate hunger.

He said: “Climate change is affecting people’s livelihoods in the country. We, therefore, need to embrace irrigation farming to improve crop yield.

“At the same time, we need to plant trees and take care of them.”

Paramount Chief Kaduya said the donation was timely as several communities in the district are facing hunger.

She appealed to other organisations and well-wishers for more relief items.

“Some people are going to bed on an empty stomach. This is affecting their capacity to do other things to uplift their families,” said Kaduya.

One of the beneficiaries, Simon Mina from Holo Village, thanked the apostle for the donation.

The church donated 2 000 bags of flour weighing 10 kilogrammes each, bibles and cash to underprivileged families.
