Resident pastor of the Malawi Assemblies of God Church in Balaka Saini Mbendera last Sunday made an impassioned plea to well-wishers to contribute towards a church project in the congregation.

Mbendera said during a Paper Sunday that the congregation has failed to raise enough resources to complete an off-shoot church christened Miracle Temple.

The church is located at Liwawadzi in the district.

“We are appealing to the public and the corporate world to come to our rescue in cash or kind to enable us complete this project since on our own we have failed to raise enough money to do so,” said Mbendera.

He said despite holding a series of fundraising activities, the congregation has only raised about K120 000 (US$300) which was used to buy iron sheets.

The pastor said they will need an additional K600 000 (US$1 500) for cement, reinforcement metals and labour, among other cost lines.

“The Paper Sunday was poorly attended. That is why we are appealing to the public to donate towards God’s cause,” said Mbendera.

One of the church elders, businessperson Kephas Kachiza Chisale, asked fellow entrepreneurs to help Miracle Temple achieve its goals, saying there are more blessings in giving than receiving.

“I usually respond to pleas for help to churches because I get blessed through the assistance I give to God’s work,” said Chisale.
