Urban hip hop artist Aycee James, real name Atupele Mahata, is releasing her new single Ndinene Bwanji on Valentine’s Day as a special gift to lovers.

The China Love star told On the Arts that the song is purely a love piece.

“Basically the song tries to express that feeling when you love someone so much you and don’t know how else to express it because “I love you” just isn’t enough.

“So you’re asking them Ndinene bwanji kuti undimvetse and kuti undikhulupirire [How do I say this for you to understand and trust me]”.

“It’s also a song to prove your love to someone that doesn’t believe or understand your love for them,” she said.

She added that people had been telling her to consider Chichewa lyrics in her songs and ‘I kept saying I will when I’m ready’.

The chorus for Ndinene Bwanji is Chichewa, and so too are the two verses with random English.

“I’m singing on the chorus and I rap on verses; so I got to rap in Chichewa and English,” she said.

On her debut album, the artist, who two months ago released a club banger Not Alone, revealed that ‘it’s been quite hard juggling school, music and personal life’.

“After Not Alone, I was preparing for exams and had some performances. After Ndinene Bwanji there will be a few collaborations while I work on my album,” she said.

She added that she is also making arrangements on doing collaboration with a Nigerian artist.

She did not mention the artist.
