With the moon beaming at an angle, the premier Moon-Rock Festival kicked off on a high note on the white sandy beaches of Lake Malawi at Chintheche Inn in the northern lakeshore district of Nkhata Bay.

By 5pm on Friday, scores of fun-loving locals and international travellers had filled the inn’s campsite, ready for a three-day rollercoaster ride courtesy of 14 local bands and one international act, hired by Wilderness Safaris Limited (WSM).

Historically, Chintheche Inn is the place where the first ever Malawi’s biggest musical fete Lake of Stars was born about nine years ago under the auspices of WSM.

The only international act of the fete, Mark Haze, and his band enthralled many as he moved up and about despite his chubby physique. He repeated the stance on Saturday when he made his last superb apperance .

The jam session continued way into the early hours of Saturday before revellers retired to bed around 4:30 am.

Other bands including Body Mind and Soul performed till dawn.
