Flames deputy coach Jack Chamangwana has advised Big Bullets to, when participating in the 2015 CAF Champions League, learn from the price the national team paid for failing to make home ground count.

The Flames dropped three valuable points when they lost 2-0 to Group B leaders Algeria at Kamuzu Stadium in a result many believe compromised the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals qualification bid, hence Chamangwana’s advice.

“BB have the chance [of winning]. However, they need to learn from our mistakes. They need to win all home games at all cost. Playing away, you can go there cautiously because you do not know how the opposition plays,” said Chamangwana.

Flames coach Young Chimodzi said Bullets’ participation in the Champions League would help widen Malawian players’ exposure.

“They need to prepare well so that by the time they begin the games, they are a well-oiled team. It will be tougher, so they need to beef up and step up on preparations,” said Chimodzi.

Bullets chairperson Kondie Msungama has since assured the country that the team will step up preparations.

The team has written foreign opposition such as Mamelodi Sundowns for strength–building matches, but the South African team seems not committed.

Last week, Bullets coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan called on all football stakeholders to join hands in supporting the TNM Super League champions who face Comoros Island giants Fomboni Club de Moheil on February 13 in a preliminary round, first leg match.

“My message is not only to the BB family because in CAF, we will be representing the country. I wish everybody, I mean sponsors, government and well-wishers to help the team have good preparations,” said Ramadhan speaking for the first time following last Monday’s CAF draw.

Bullets’ last CAF league 2004 engagement was marked by massive support from the then sponsor and president Bakili Muluzi who used to pay for fans air fares during away games and also made home games free of charge. The Bullets camp trained in the United Kingdom before eventually reaching the league’s group stages.
