Biggie warns on mother tongue use
Housemates who speak in mother tongue might see their stay in the Big Brother Africa house being terminated, Biggie has warned.
Biggie was unimpressed with some of the Rubies not adhering to basic house rules that were explained from the beginning of The Chase. One of the rules that the housemates have been blatantly ignoring is the use of vernacular or mother tongue in the house.
Ghanaians Elikem and Selly , and Namibians Dillish and Maria, are few of the housemates who have been spotted exchanging words in their mother tongue.
This was followed by Malawian housemates Natasha and Fatima who discussed the eviction on Sunday in Chichewa.
“Ndinakuuza kuti ndi mzanga koma anandipangabe nominate. Mwina chifukwa choti ndinacheza ndi mnyamata uja [I told you she is my friend but she decided to nominate me maybe because of the guy],” said Natasha of her nomination to Fatima.
Her compatriot was quick to reply in Chichewa and English maybe to avoid Big Brother’s wrath.
Natasha almost committed the same crime Monday night after being told about the evictions when she ran upstairs to cry. Fatima followed to console her and immediately she told Natasha that “I would have spoken in Chichewa.”
The speaking of mother tongue has brought great unrest and unhappiness in the house because some housemates feel that there are things being said by their fellow housemates who have intentions of conspiring against others thus causing separation in the house.
Biggie told all housemates during their Diary sessions that he has been telling all of them to speak English in the house at all times and his instructions have been constantly ignored. For this, he intends to penalise the next housemates to speak in their home language, the punishment will be extreme or the housemate will be disqualified.
People commenting on the Big Brother website felt that Biggie was being unfair.
“If Delish and Maria, Fatima and Natasha speaks their dialect no dust was raised, I see no problem in Elikem and Selly speaking……. POKELLO should just play the game and ignore the “SPECTATORS”, reads one follower.
“True yesterday after the eviction show. Natasha and Fatima was talking their native language in the bed room. But no comment from the BB. This is not fair,” reads another comment.

Selly and Elikem do it and they are disgusting and blah blah blah…… I see what’s going on here………. y’all are just funny…. it’s just a game,” reads another comment.
