Blue Bullets shine in Special Olympics match

Blue Bullets on Saturday emerged winners of Special Olympics Malawi Unified Invitational football match at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Former Mighty Wanderers striker Muzipasi Mwangonde, who came in as a substitute in the second half, scored the winning goal with three minutes to full time to separate men from boys as the teams were tied at 3-3.

It was a unique match in which both teams produced a hat-trick.

Naomi Fatchi, who

plays for Blantyre-based women football team Ntopwa Queens, claimed a hat-trick for Rebels while Adam James scored a hat-trick for Bullets.

Blue Bullets featured celebrated players such as James Sangala, Lawrance Waya and Ernest Mtawali.

Rebels had Mark Fish, Andrew Chikhosi, Fisher Kondowe, Peter Mponda, and Phillip Masinga in their starting line-up.

Rebels, captained by Fish, were leading 3-0 at half time with goals from Fatchi.

Fatchi opened the score sheet in 12 minutes after she received a pass from Daniel Story.

She extended the lead three minutes later after being put through by former Flames captain Mponda.

Fatchi completed a hat-trick in the 27th minute after she connected a cross from Bullets captain Fisher.
