Menyani: It was an agreement

It has emerged that Big Bullets new catch Frazer Menyani is involved in a contractual dispute with the team, a situation that has led the player not to be featured in recent games.

Menyani hogged the limelight when he scored two goals in his first two matches for Bullets against Civo United and Red Lions that helped the People’s Team bag full points.

But from then on, the player missed the subsequent matches against Epac and Silver Strikers.

According to The Nation findings, Menyani was reluctant to continue playing until Bullets met some of the terms which they agreed.

However, Bullets general secretary Harold Fote claimed the player was being driven by personal egos.

“We approached the player and he agreed to join us after agreeing on personal terms, which include a signing-on fees and we further more than tripled the salary at Azam Tigers.

“Then from the blues, he started making outrageous demands which were not in the contract. He even involved his parents, that is when we felt he was going out of his way and we asked him to stop training with the team until the issue was sorted out,” claimed Fote.

The BB GS said with the intervention of the player’s parents it was clear that he did not understand the terms of the contract, which he signed.

Menyani confirmed in a telephone interview that there was indeed a “minor disagreement with Bullets.”

“We agreed that they would give me a certain percentage of my transfer fee from Tigers which they have not done and that is how my parents came in. However, last week I resumed training and was ready to play against Silver, but was instructed by the officials to stop saying the issue at hand would affect my performance.

“Nevertheless, we have agreed to talk it over later today,” said Menyani.

However, Fote dismissed the player’s claims saying they have no obligation to pay him a percentage from the transfer fee.

“He is entitled to a signing-on fee which we gave him and you can ask him,” said Fote.

Bullets bought Menyani from Tigers at a reported fee of K750 000 (US$1 820).
