Nyasa Big Bullets new signing Muhammad Sulumba on Sunday scored a hat trick as the Super League champions beat Red Lions 4-1 in a friendly match played at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

A heavy downpour almost spoiled the match, but Bullets diehards who braved the rains and watched the game, went home satisfied.

Sulumba was the hero of the day as he tormented Red Lions defence at will.

Defender George Nyirenda, playing as an attacking midfielder, scored the other goal.

But Bullets have suffered a setback following the injury of midfielder Eneya Banda who sustained a cut in the face after colliding with a Red Lions player.

The game was new coach Franco Ndawa’s second assignment after signing a two-year contract with the People’s Team.

Ndawa said he was impressed with how the team was gelling but said there still more work to do before the season kicks off next month.

Meanwhile, Bullets traditional rivals Mighty Be Forward Wanderers registered a 2-1 victory over little known Nsanama Select at Nsanama ground in Ntaja, Machinga.

Luka Milanzi and Mike Kaziputa were on target for the Nomads.

The Lali Lubani outfit is yet to name their 2016 season squad.

Coach Jack Chamangwana said he would name the final squad by April 1.

Wanderers are expected to sign 25 players out of the 32 that are currently with the team.n
