Police in Limbe have hailed CarTrack Malawi Limited, for helping the Malawi Police Service (MPS) anti-motor vehicle theft section recover stolen vehicles within Malawi and neighbouring countries.

Speaking after the company helped track a Toyota Hilux D4D stolen from Auction Holdings Commodities Exchange Limited after robbers hijacked the driver at Magalasi in Blantyre, Limbe police public officer Chifundo Chibwezo said CarTrack has been handy in recovering stolen vehicles.

“More than five robbers hijacked the driver, Daniel Chilima, tied him up and made away with the vehicle. CarTrack spotted the car on their system to be in Tete, Mozambique at the time. With their assistance, our officers went to recover the vehicle. This is not the first time they have come in handy,” said Chibwezo.

CarTrack Malawi managing director Charles Nseula said the company’s technicians install gadgets in cars which help track their positions in real-time.

“We have recovered all cars stolen from our customers but one. We believe that the car was broken for spares. It is a very effective way to combat car theft,” said Nseula.

According to him, CarTrack offers two options for clients: tracking cars from their computers or using the company’s computers to track the whereabouts of their cars.
