Catholics in Malawi are celebrating the World Day of Communication in style by launching its online magazine, The Dawn.

The magazine, which, among others, covers issues on governance, gender, youths and the church, provides an opportunity for Catholics and other people to appreciate what is happening in the church.

“This forum is designed to give news on issues affecting the Catholic Church in Malawi and the world. This is an opportunity to reflect on stories in the media from a Christ-cantered perspective, as well as present up to the moment information about the work of the agencies of the Bishops Conference. It is hoped that this magazine will facilitate the ECM’s growing engagement in the area of social media. The overriding aim of this magazine is to bring about a message of Christ in the world: ‘Go out to all the world and tell the Good News.’ (Mark 16:15),” said Father Martin Mtumbuka during the launch of the magazine in Mangochi on Sunday, July 29, 2012.

Mtumbuka thanked the editorial team for working hard to produce the first edition of the magazine which is attached to the website of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi; www.ecmmw.org.

He said: “I congratulate and commend the secretary for Social Communications Commission and Association of Catholic Journalists for coming up with the idea to start online magazine for the Episcopal Conference of Malawi. I commend the editorial team for their expertise and love for the church as they help her in the evangelisation mission.
