Imagine a situation when you bump into a bald-headed 50-year-old with a wrinkled face, grey hair as well as stuttering voice due to old age.

However, this elderly person is lying on the laps of his mother, sucking milk from her breast. While he look physically drained, the mother looks young and in good physical shape.

From this scenario, the standard question that might arise is if the baby is suffering from malnutrition or stunted growth?

At a certain age, a child is required to cease breastfeeding and start eating solid foods.

Chancellor College (Chanco) second year Bachelor of Education student Innocent Fabiano is using the paintbrush to tell the story of how developing countries still depend on donor aid despite gaining independency 50 years ago.

Fabiano says detachment from the colonialists was a symbol of maturity. He however questions why the developing nations still suck aid from the colonists for survival?

To express his frustrations, Fabiano went to work on a piece titled The Aged Baby and the Ageless Mother.

The painting displays a woman who looks joyful ushering her breast into the mouth of the grey-haired bald old man who looks contented with the milk he sucks from the breasts of the mother.

“The aged baby depicts countries or individuals which you would expect to support themselves still, but they are dependent on others. This calls for a question as to why it has it taken all this time for the countries to be independent,” said Fabiano.

“The smile on the mother’s face portrays the joy those donors have when they give to needy countries. They do not get tired to give as they believe in the hypothesis that says blessed is the hand that gives than that which receives. That is why most of the donor aid countries keep on getting rich every time,” clarified Fabiano.

Across the painting, there is a face of another lady who looks surprised with what is happening between the aged baby and the ageless mother.

“Lest we don’t know, there are other countries and individuals laugh at the dependence syndrome,” he said.
