“We approached Chazama [after the challenge] who consented to fight.  We believe in promotion of boxing that’s why we are sponsoring this fight,” said Ngwenyama Boxing Promotions director Patrick Ngwenyama.

He said the fight was an opportunity for Chazama to re-launch his career after the defeat.

“These are two great boxers and we expect a good fight.  This is an opportunity for Chazama to re-launch his career and also an opportunity for Kayira to make a lasting impression,” said Ngwenyama.

Chazama was excited to be back in the ring, but appealed for fairness from the judges.

“I never seem to win when the fight ends without a knockout.  The judges always rule against me. I just appeal for fairness. The best option for me is to knock him out,” said Chazama.

In a telephone interview from Mzuzu, Kayira said beating Chazama will make promoters see his potential.

“I have never fought Salimu before, but I have watched him fight and I know I can beat him. I want to show the country that I am a good boxer.  This is an opportunity for me to prove myself,” he said.

The Moyale Barracks Boxing stable boxer, said he has been training hard for the fight both in the gym and the ring. n
