Planning for a title bout: Chilemba

Revered light heavyweight boxer Isaac ‘Golden Boy’ Chilemba has said his next fight will be in March next year.

Speaking in a telephone interview from Johannesburg on Wednesday, Chilemba said he is yet to identify an opponent.

“But my first bout next year will definitely be mid-March. I have already discussed that with my manager and trainers. My aim is to have a title fight later next year, but before I do that, I need to get myself in shape,” said Chilemba.

The 26-year-old boxer said he resumed training on Tuesday.

“I will not be coming home for Christmas as I need to step up my preparations,” he said.

Chilemba made an impressive return to the ring on March 16 against Ghanaian journeyman Michael Gbenga by shutout in New York, USA.

Chilemba, who now boasts 21-2-2 (9 KOs), failed his WBC world title bid after losing to Briton Anthony Bellew in May this year.
