Civo United on Wednesday drew with Airborne Rangers to drop points again in a second consecutive league.

The Malawi Defence side, Airborne, have been the most impressive of the new entrants, collecting six points in five games while perched 10th.

But Civo coach Oscar Kaunda, whose side scored through Lawrence Mwehiwa, chose to fault fatigue for the 1-1 draw at Civo Stadium where John Banda netted for the visitors.

“We played on Saturday [against Chikwawa United], Sunday [Big Bullets] and only returned here in the early hours of Monday. The boys tried all they could under such circumstances considering that our players [Emmanuel Zoya and John Lanjesi] are also with the national team,” Kaunda complained.

Civo beat Chikwawa 2-1 on Saturday and showed character to rise from two goals down and hold Bullets the following day at the Kamuzu Stadium.

A win would have seen Civo up to fourth on the ladder, but they had to be content with the fifth place on eight points from six games, seven points behind leaders Blue Eagles.
