Ntelera: We will give him time

Civo United management has said despite erratic results this season and pressure from the supporters, they still have faith in the ability of coach Oscar Kaunda to turn the tide and lead the team to success.

In an exclusive interview on Wednesday, the club’s general secretary Rashid Ntelera said despite some voice of dissatisfaction from supporters, the executive will still give Kaunda time.

Civo again dropped two points at home during a draw against Airborne Rangers on Wednesday.

The Civil Servants have lost twice at home against Azam Tigers and Blue Eagles. They have won against Chikwawa United away and Moyale at home. They have drawn against Big Bullets and Airborne Rangers.

“Of course, it has not been a satisfactory start to the season, especially not doing well on home games, but it is not enough reason to change the coach.

“We will give him time to prove himself. There is no pressure from us as executive and we ask the supporters to give him the necessary support,” said Ntelera.

Ntelera said he believes that there is enough time and also indications that the coach will do well.

“Our performance away in Blantyre against Chikwawa United and Big Bullets showed that the team is well and will improve. It is not easy to collect four points away, it shows we are moving in the right direction,” he said.

Kaunda has recently been avoiding press interviews.

Meawhile, Civo will face Mighty Wanders on Sunday.
