The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) envisages to raise K24 million (US$58 252) in the African Nations Cup qualifier match against Chad tomorrow at Kamuzu Stadium.

The association has printed 17 000 tickets for the match. The VIP, which sits 400 spectators and with tickets selling at K10 000 (US$24), is expected to raise K4 million (US$9 708.7).

Covered stand tickets are going at K5 000 (US$12) and with a combined capacity of 1 100 fans, K5.5 million (US$9 709) is projected.

MBC stand might raise K500 000 (US$1 213.6), with tickets selling at K2 500. The stand has a 200 sitting capacity.

The open stands, if packed to capacity, will make K15.3 million, with tickets going at K1 000 per head.

“Our appeal is to come in their large numbers and fill the stadium to capacity. This is a national cause. It is not only about money, but cheering their team to success,” said FAM general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda in a telephone interview yesterday.

Nyirenda said the journey to success starts now and it is important that the team maximises from home ground advantage.

Nyirenda has since advised fans to buy tickets in advance so as not to be inconvenienced on the day of the match.
