Josaya: Teams will now be more serious

In a bid to instil professionalism in the Premier League, the Central Region Football League (CRFL) has set conditions for clubs which failed to fulfil fixtures last season.

One of the conditions is payment of K50 000 (US$121) per game that points were forfeited, failing which, the team will not be registered for the next season.

In an interview, on Monday, CRFL chairperson Dini Josaya Banda said the conditions set were with the blessings of the teams.

“It is not like it is our directive. It was a consensus reached by teams themselves. They want sanity to prevail in the league. With the new conditions, which have been adopted by the clubs, teams will now be more serious,” said Josaya Banda.

Last season the CRFL received many complaints about some teams which accumulated points without playing scheduled games.

Anthony Msukwa of Hardknockers said tough measures will prevent a repeat of that scenario.
