Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has taken the preparatory coaches training to Machinga District where trainers Stuart Mbolembole and Karen Chaura yesterday started initiating 30 individuals into the profession at Nsanama Community Centre.
Machinga is the eighth district out of the country’s 28 1to have its football coaches trained after Phalombe, Thyolo, Chiradzulu, Zomba, Lilongwe, Dedza and Nkhotakota, according to FAM’s technical director (TD) John Kaputa.
The week-long training in Machinga has been funded by the district’s sports office.
“It is our wish to have such courses in all the districts in the country so as to have a good number of qualified coaches nationwide and this is how we are progressing. In two weeks, we will take the course to Mwanza,” said Kaputa.
The TD is expected to administer exams for trainees in Machinga on January 10.
So far, over 200 individuals have gone through such preparatory coaching courses since early 2014. These beginners are now ready to attend class-C coaching training.
