Bullets FC captain Fischer Kondowe has said he will retire from professional football at the end of the season.

In an interview with South African media and The Nation, the winger said he wants to concentrate on personal business.

“I have played my part in football and it is time to give a chance to younger players both at club and country level. I thank everyone who has helped me achieve what I have achieved in the game.

“But before I retire, I want to win things with my team, Bullets, as it is the one that opened doors for me and all the teams I played for in South Africa. Now, it is for me to concentrate on my personal business,” the 30-year-old told www.soccerladuma.com

He confirmed with The Nation yesterday that he would like quit football.

“What you have seen in South Africa media is true. I want to leave the game this season. I will soon organise a formal press conference where I will officially part ways with the game,” said Kondowe.

He said having won the Presidential Cup last month, he wants to see the team win the Super League and the Carlsberg Cup.

“It is unfortunate that we lost to Wanderers in the Standard Bank Knockout Trophy last week. It was my wish to win everything on offer with Bullets before retiring. But we still have a chance to clinch a treble, which will be a good farewell for me,” he said.

Kondowe started his career with Bullets Youth in the late 1990s before being promoted to the senior team in 1999.

He became a regular for Bullets and the national team before moving to South Africa’s Premier Soccer League side Umtata Bush Bucks in 2005.

In 2006, Bush Bucks were liquidated. He them moved to Black Leopards same year. After two seasons with Leopards, he clinched a lucrative deal with Bloemfontein Celtic, but a season later returned to Leopards.

He was released by Leopards last year and returned home to rejoin Bullets.
