Fischer, Yona hype up Carlsberg final

Such is the hype that has characterised the Carlsberg Cup final that Mighty Wanderers flamboyant fan Yona Malunga has come out to counter Big Bullets’ midfielder Fischer Kondowe’s Rav 4 vehicle bet ahead oftomorrow’s Carlsberg Cup final.

Kondowe challenged earlier this week that anyone who believes Zomba United will carry the day against Bullets, should also bet a car.

However, Malunga suggested that instead of vehicles, Fischer should consider that they agree on a K100 000 cash bet.

“Ine galimoto yanga ndi kanyenya (my car is run down), but nevertheless, I am ready to bet K100 000 and we can surrender the cash to authorities at FAM,” said Malunga on Matindi FM.

Another Zomba United unidentified sympathiser has reportedly pledged to bet his plot in Makheta.

Meanwhile, Carlsberg Malawi have stepped up the hype ahead of the final at Sports Council Bar which is just a skip-and-jump away from the match venue—Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Carleberg’s senior brands manager (alcoholics) Twikale Chirwa said they have organised activaties where patrons will have a chance to win Carlsberg-branded T-shirts, caps and footballs.

“On the actual day of the game, there will also be trophy parade into the stadium ahead of the final match between Big Bullets and Zomba,” said Chirwa.

He said the fact that the tournament’s leading scorer is little-known Dedza Young Soccer’s forward Imran Ibrahim and that Zomba, who play in the lower league, have made it into the finals, speaks volumes of how the tournament has helped expose talent.

Meanwhile, Bullets have a pre-match hype show at Afro Motel and live music perormances, including watching the goal that eaned them qualification.
