Four Malawian players—goalkeepers Simplex Nthala and Dave Mphaya; midfielder Chimango Kayira and striker Jimmy Zakazaka—have completed moves to top Mozambican Mocambola League teams.

According to broker of the deals James Nelito-Pondomale, Kayira and Zakazaka completed their moves to Costa Dol Sol on Sunday when they signed two-year contracts. Mphaya has also signed a two-year-deal with Ferroviario de Maputo from smaller club Textil de Pungwe while Nthala is set to sign for Maxaquene today, after a mutual agreement with champions Liga Maculmana to terminate his contract.

“Chimango and Jimmy put pen to paper on Sunday and immediately joined their new team for pre-season camp training at the border town of Malasha alongside compatriot Moses ‘Luba’ Chavula who also signed a similar deal recently,” said Pondomale.

While Pondomale could not be drawn to disclose figures involved, The Nation findings show that the two are set to get in the excess of K15 million each as signing-on fee.

Zakazaka signed for Costa Dol Sol following the expiry of his contract with South African National First Division (NFD) side FC Cape Town.

According to Pondomale, Costa Dol Sol new coach Arnaldo Salvado is impressed with the duo’s performance and commitment.

Meanwhile, former Big Bullets coach Eddingtone Ng’onamo has said former Flames coach Kim Splidsboel had arranged trials for Kayira in Denmark.

“Kim was expecting Chimango in Denmark in March because he had arranged trials at his [Splidsboel’s] former team and I advised him not to sign for the Mozambican club until after the Danish trials. So, if he has signed, then I guess I will just have to inform Kim and see what is next,” said Ng’onamo.
