Big Bullets, Silver Strikers, Civo United and Blantyre United have entered into dealership agreements with the league’s sponsor TNM aimed at boosting the team’s finances.

TNM public relations manager Limbani Nsapato said they are offering Super League teams the special customer group category in which they will be able to transact business covering a number of products such as sale of SIM cards, internet dongles, TNM handsets and airtime.

Nsapato said on every product sold, a team will be getting a certain percentage.

He said Mighty Wanderers is the other team that is on course to enter into the agreement, but they are still doing the necessary paperwork.

Silver chairperson McDonald Mafuta-Mwale said they plan to roll out the business next week.

He said they have not set any target profit because it depends on how their supporters will welcome the initiative.

However, Bullets general secretary Harold Fote said they are targeting to realise K8 million per month from the venture.

“We should be able to meet the target because we are told that there are church organisations that do not have a large following like ours, but they make in excess of K5 million,” said Fote.

He said the plan is to open kiosks in townships, at trading centres and district headquarters.

Fote also disclosed that they have also entered into an agreement worth K2 million with Bowler Beverages to supply the team with mineral water and training bibs in return for marketing their brand.

“Bowler Beverages will be giving us 200 bottles of mineral water a week and we have already finalised the deal. In return we will be promoting their brand through banners and other means,” he said.

Fote also said they are currently in talks with a medical aid firm to put all the players on medical scheme.

Apart from teams that are sponsored by government institutions such as Silver, Blue Eagles, Civo, Kamuzu Barracks, Red Lions, Moyale, Mafco and Airborne Rangers, the rest—Bullets, Wanderers, Epac, Azam Tigers, Blantyre United and Karonga United have meagre sponsorship or depend on sporadic handouts.
