Pop Dogg: Ladies are the biggest supporters of music

The hip hop industry in the country need to create a conducive environment that will motivate women to start following and continue widening the urban music fan base.

This call was made by Malawi’s Ireland based artist Pop Dogg following the release of new love song Priceless that features Nigerian artist Riva 9 and Malawian R&B artist Marco Sadik taken from his forthcoming album Enter The Ninja.

“Women are mostly degraded in hip hop and artists are not doing enough to address the situation. We have a situation where many hip hop artists and albums are not fully catering for ladies as compared to R&B artist and albums.

“This is unfair because if we are to be honest, ladies are the biggest supporters of music as they are always in the forefront in buying albums and concert tickets. It is high time women are empowered and honored by writing songs which they can relate to.

“That is why I decide to step up my game to set an example for other artists to emulate drop another smash and heartfelt track dedicated to priceless girls out there,” said Pop Dogg in an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana).

According to the artist, who worked previously with Kyriah Dee, Priceless is centred on admiration, respect and praise to a virtuous woman.

“A priceless woman is a rare type of woman we do not see every day. Finding a priceless woman is like finding an angel whereby your life becomes heaven.

“Therefore, the song is describing my type of a woman, what she is able to do, make me feel and I’m simultaneously expressing my love for her and also take an opportunity to brag about her,” said Pop Dogg, real name Ibrahim Haji.

The tracks instrumentation was done by Dominant One, recorded and mixed by King David at Malawian Ninjaz Records and mastered by Irish producer Tera at Class A Studios in Dublin Ireland.

Currently, the artist is also set to perform at Miss Malawi UK 2014 event in Birmingham on September 13.
