Dzonzi: There is something wrong with homosexuals

Malawi’s Inspector General (IG) of Police Lot Dzonzi says homosexuality, globalisation and other cultures from the Western world are threatening marriages.

He has asked the church to take a leading role in preserving the marriage institution.

Dzonzi was speaking on Friday when he opened a retreat for male members of Area 30 CCAP Church.

Said Dzonzi: “The family is in great danger because the Bible has been taken out of marriages. We are copying a lot of things from outside.

“God designed marriages as a centre of procreation. Now, if one wants to marry to a fellow man or woman, they will not have children.”

He said every time he thinks about homosexuals, he knows something is wrong with them.

“When two males or females get involved in sex, it is very abnormal because God had a good purpose for creating men and women. As a church, we have to be vigilant because if society copies everything from the world, we shall see many marriages crumble for flimsy reasons,” said Dzonzi.

On divorce, the IG said no matter how big the problems in marriages, spouses must work hard to find a lasting solution.

  1. I can’t believe that these comments were made by the whole inspector general of our national police. This is the problem when a highly ranking public official like Dzonzi doubles as a church cleric.
Mr Dzonzi please be professional and leave God matters in the hands of the clergy and just concentrate on reducing crime in our beloved country. Do not try to divert attention of the general public to things that your office has absolutely nothing to do with.
If you are not sure or have deliberately forgotten your job description can I briefly remind you that your job is to make sure that every single Malawian including homosexuals and their property is always safe day and night 365 days of the year.
