After being swayed with the hype that surrounded the Match Play tournament, Hotel Victoria has pledged to sponsor another tournament in six months.

The hotel’s marketing manager Emma Chithenga said the tournament will be played on medal format.

The Hotel Victoria Match Play, that was played over three months, came to an end on Sunday at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) and, incredibly, it was won by golf captain Hudson Kantwanje and his deputy Nestor Msowoya.

Chithenga said they sponsored the match play to interact with their customers and update them on the progress made as regards their services.

“Hotel Victoria is well established and reputable hotel. Our motto being ‘executive accommodation, Malawian hospitality’ says a lot about us and through golf, we reach out to our current and prospective customers,” said Chithenga.

Kantwanje and Msowoya led by example to beat William Mabulekesi and Misheck Esau in the doubles category finals.

The BSC golf leaders got K40 000 (US$97) Game vouchers each and trophies, while their runners-up Mabulekesi and Esau got K35 000 (US$85) Game shopping vouchers each and trophies.

“It has been a very tough campaign, I cannot remember when we had an easy game,” said Msowoya.

In the men’s plate division singles, John Gift Mwakhwawa beat James Katunga in the final.

In the ladies’ category, Sophie Kalambule saw off Sithe Sigauke, they got similar prizes.
