Huawei wins top African employer award

 Huawei Technologies has received the Top African Employer prize, which is provided by Top Employers Institute in recognition of its employment rate in Africa.

In a statement, the company has described the award as the recognition of its handling of its human resource despite the emergence of Covid-19.

It says throughout the pandemic, Huawei Technologies ensured that its employees were a top priority and placed an even greater emphasis on their well-being.

Reads the statement in part: “Coming at a time when Covid-19 has disrupted life and working conditions for people and organisations around the globe, the award underlines the work Huawei has done to ensure that its employees across the region feel valued and cared for.”

Huawei Technologies Southern Africa Region human resources director Chen Yu is quoted in the statement as having said that the award is a remarkable achievement for Huawei Africa in recognition of its achievement and continued focus towards implementing human resources best practices within the region.

He said: “We understand that the intellectual capital provided by our diversified workforce is our biggest asset. We constantly strive to provide the best people practices.”

Top Employers Institute chief executive officer David Pink is quoted in the statement as having said when providing the award, they look at how companies prioritise maintaining best people practices at work places.

The institute certifies organisations based on the results of its human resource best practices audit based on surveys.

Huawei is a global provider of information and communication technology and smart devices.

In Africa, the company operates in South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Botswana, Mauritius, Uganda and Malawi.
