I am a gospel musician—Lucius

Self acclaimed ‘People’s Soldier’ Lucius Banda says he has always been a gospel artist and it should not surprise his fans that he will be performing at Thoko Katimba’s album launch at Robin’s Park on 27th April.

“I started at Alleluya Band with gospel music before I set up Zembani. All along, my music is inspired by my Christian faith, but if people want me to come and say now I am born again and stuff then that would be a lie,” said Lucius.

The iconic musician, whose career has spanned over three decades, explained that the reason he did not hesitate to accept Katimba’s invitation to perform at the launch is because the gospel musician is his personal friend.

On his part, Katimba explained that he invited Lucius because he is one of the finest musicians on the scene and also because he is a personal friend.

“We live in a secular world where we share all the resources so it would not be my place to judge. But I am sure that we are all equal in God’s eyes,” said Katimba.

Katimba said he is optimistic that Lucius’ performance on the launch which will change gospel fans’ perspective of the musician.
