Nigerian superstar Ice Prince and South Africa’s Bonang will be on the mic when the Channel O Music Video Awards pop back to your screen on Saturday.

In an announcement on Monday, MultiChoice Africa said the two hosts bring a blend of their unique individuality to the ninth edition of the continent’s prestigious music gala to be broadcast live to DStv subscribers from Walter Sisulu Square in Soweto, South Africa.

The awards brim with A-list performers, including Botswana ace Zeus, Nigeria’s Mo Cheddah, South African multi-nominees Khuli Chana, Kenya’s Campa Mulla and Ghana’s M.anifest.

Born Panshak Zamani, Ice Prince has become a continental hit with the single Oleku which won the Most Gifted Newcomer Video award at last year’s awards. His current chart-toppers Superstar and Magician (ft Gyptian) are nominated for Most Gifted Hip Hop Video as well as Most Gifted Ragga Dancehall Video at this year’s event.

“I feel really honoured and more excited than anyone who has ever hosted the show because it’s a huge privilege to be hosting the biggest award show in Africa,” he said.

On the other hand, Queen B, the radio personality behind Bonang Matheba Entertainment, was recently named host of Clash of the Choirs South Africa which is coming to Mzansi Magic.

She is no stranger to live events. Her dossier include The GQ Best Dressed Men Of The Year Awards, AFI Africa Fashion Awards, the Trey Songz Concert, the 50 Cent and G-Unit Concert to name a few.

“Hosting an awards ceremony of this magnitude is a first for me and a great honour. The Channel O Music Video Awards will be broadcast to over 40 African countries so you can only imagine how excited I am,” said Bonang.

DStv audiences can catch the awards live on Channel O from Saturday 8pm.
