Central Region Volleyball League (CRVL) teams will on Saturday go into serious business with tight fixtures lined up to mark the start of the 2012/2013 K300 000 (about $1 200) Johnson & Wilson season.

According to fixtures released by the league on Wednesday, games of the week will be between Kamuzu Barracks (KB) Youth and Lingadzi in the Youth league. There will also be an all-soldiers affair between defending champions KB Senior and Airwing in men’s league.

In other fixtures, Bunda will meet Kami whereas KB will play Bunda in the youth league. Health Sciences will face Kami and Lingadzi in the men’s league.

In an interview, CRVL publicity secretary Emmanuel Chipungu said they have lined up tight fixtures this weekend to start the season on high.

“It is now official that the league is starting this season. We want a competitive season. All teams in the league are eager to win the trophy; so we are expecting tight competition,” said Chipungu.

He said the league has also come up with new strategies to be announced later, to fight indiscipline in the league.

Meanwhile, CRVL has announced that this year it will have a complete season for the ladies league. According to Chipungu, six teams have registered with the league this season and the ladies league will run alongside the other leagues.

In a related development, the league has promoted Lilongwe Spikers, Don Bosco and Calvary Family Church (CFC) Snipers to the men’s league.

According to Chipungu, the season will run from this weekend to the last day of April next year.
