Lake of Stars in Blantyre, Lilongwe for pre festival events
As the countdown to the Lake of Stars (LoS)Festival has begun, organisers are this weekend hosting pre events in Blantyre and Lilongwe.
The multi-arts festival which returns to the sandy beaches of Lake Malawi at Sunbird’s Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi from the September 26 to 28 will hold a Mega DJ party at Club 360 in Blantyre on Friday which will feature Theo Thompson and Tay Grin.
On Saturday, the venue will the Koko Bean Café in Lilongwe and the event will feature Sally Nyundo, Kufewa Acrobats, Abantu Dance group, Mafilika, Esau from The Very Best, George Kalukusha, Rainmaker and Menes.
“The Mega party is our second event in Blantyre since our launch in June this year. Having this Mega party and also the Family Day in Lilongwe is our way of celebrating the 11th year of the LoS of Stars festival with both our Fans.” says Fiona O’Dala, the project manager of the LoS festival.
To make the events more exciting, fans stand a chance of winning three day LoS festival tickets and other surprise giveaways.
“As we enter the last few weeks before the festival, these two events present a great opportunity for festival goers and their families to gear up for this year’s festival,” says Yolanda Ng’oma, public relations assistant for the LoS.
The Family Day begins at 12pm while in Blantyre the Mega DJ party will start at 9pm. The LoS project was born from a desire to raise money for a developing economy, help promote Malawi as a tourist destination and expose Malawian artists to an international audience.
