LDNL doubles registration fee

Lilongwe and Districts Netball League (LDNL) has doubled registration fee for 2012 season.

LDNL general secretary Zachariah Kasakula confirmed the increase, saying teams will now pay K10 000 (about $40).

He said the registration period has been opened and games will start at the end of June.

“The increase is realistic with the way things are in this country. With this devaluation, things have gone up and we need to adjust to match the status of the economy. We consulted the teams before coming up with the figure. Teams should start registering for the season with our chairperson Bofina Makina on +265-999-253-224,” said Kasakula.

He said he was optimistic about securing a sponsor for the league this season.

Blue Eagles Sisters are the league’s current title holders.

In a related matter, residents of Area 18 have teamed up to form a new netball team called 18 Sisters.

“We are asking teams such as Civonets and Blue Eagles to send us on loan players that are not enjoying game time,” said the new netball outfit’s team manager Alexander Mkandawire.
