Mauwa not first

I read with interest last week’s cover story on Sphiwe Mauwa who was said to be the first female DC. Now having been around for quite some time I would like to dispute that detail and put it on record that there have been other women such as Mrs.

Jana who could have been the first female District Commissioner in Malawi.

Dear Hazel, we appreciate your writing to us and educating us on that. Indeed, as a paper we should have clarified that fact. We have discovered that the information was that Sphiwe Mauwa is currently the only female DC in the country and not the first female DC.

We would like to sincerely apologise to our readers for the factual error.
