Mi Casa’s night of ecstasy
Awesome! That is how fans that thronged Bingu International Conference Centre (Bicc) in Lilongwe on Saturday for a night of vibe, thrill, fun and breathtaking sight described the Mi Casa gig.
The night started with a rare treat as Malawians were introduced to a new dimension to local music performances as Hazel Mak’s set was characterised by a set of international standards.
The Liyaya hitmaker brought her A-game as she unleashed scenes that characterise Beyonce, Shakira music videos. Even her dressing was diva atypical to boot.
Flanked by two dancers in sensual outfits who exhibited rare dance moves, Hazel Mak not only looked like an international superstar, but also delivered a performance to match.
The moment the three-member band stepped on stage, the auditorium transformed into a club of, not only of the group’s kind of house music, but also its flavoured pop, jazz and Afro-beats tunes. A true reflection of a new era in African music.
The feeling was contagious as Mi Casa proved that they have not only raised the bar in the vibe they bring on stage, but more is on what they deliver.
It is a strong, enchanting and tantalising recipe.
Local fans truly tasted the band’s full thrill as they sang and danced along with J’Something on vocals, Mo-T blowing the trumpet, while Dr Duda was hard at work on the beats and rhythms.
Talking about the dance moves, they too are a charm the band holds.
The audience was on its toes right from the word go, pushing Mi Casa, which was performing with a fully-fledged band, wild as well.
“We are nothing without people like you,” J’Something incessantly told the crowd.
Since 2010, the group with its signature soulful sound and unparalleled creativity, has skyrocketed to success and that is exactly what they gave fans.
“Where are the beautiful?” he asked before the women folk went wild with cheers and screams. “I have heard a lot about you. There’s this son. I want you to listen to,” and Your Body was the song, which fast turned into an anthem.
Other songs that turned the fans wild were Heavenly Sent, Barman, Don’t Wanna Be (Your Friend) which features Euphonik and These Streets before the fans demanded Jika, the group’s number one hit.
As the fans sung along as well as mimicked Mi Casa’s dance routines, it was time to say goodbye.
