United for mothers: (L-R) Grace, Patience and Ethel performing Lemekeza

A 5-Star Entertainment gospel party on Mothers’ Day 15 October brought together gospel music giants Ethel Kamwendo-Banda, Patience Namadingo and Grace Chinga at a filled to the brim Blantyre Cultural Centre. The party cleared of some mist that was surrounding Ethel Kamwendo-Banda and Grace Chinga as they collaborated with patience Namadingo in Lemekeza Amayi which was a theme song at the party.

Ethel’s charisma was clear right from her entrance as whistles and claps were heard just on her mere appearance further calling for a standing ovation.

The gospel songbird, gave an energetic performance of Thanthwe which saw mothers and daughters and sons sing along and dance together tirelessly. Ethel performed Sanafune Tionongeke but could not help share the love to mothers at the show as she called for some mothers to come to the stage and dance. Ethel’s music is more than just composing singing and performing on stage—but a ministry as she couldn’t help it but pray for a woman who had problems with her —legs.

Some fans could not help it but hop on stage to show their dancing antics as Ethel performed Usachoke. Ethel then played a reggae song Ngati Mulungu wa ona before signing out with her hit song Mwatikondera.

Soon after Ethel Kamwendo, on stage came Patience Namadingo who made quite a dramatic entrance. Patience turned back some years with his fashion statement as he donned a red pair of shorts, black shirt, Black tuxedo blazer, moccasin shoes and a pair of sunglasses.

Patience introduced the band in his tenor smooth voice his Band before dazling the the audience withAnandiombola in original version. But the audience was further given value worth more than what they had anticipated as patience performed the same song in Nigerian, Reggae, hip hop and Manganje style.

Paience proved that he is an extraordinary performer as he came on stage performing Ndili ndi Yesu and Ndi Konda Kupemphera which hypnotised the audience into dance. The young gospel artist left the audience begging for more when he signed out with Mtendere.

Then it was the turn of Grace Chinga who came on stage with a praise song Mwayenera but raised the tempo to get the audience dancing performing Akanapanda Yehova. Grace Chinga’s performance of Chimdalitso, was more than average as she serenaded some people to come on stage and dance.

Graces performance climaxed as she performed her hit-song Kolona.

On top of the fact that some four mothers were given a treat to eat at steers after winning a raffle draw, 5-star entertainment gave patrons value worth of their money.

A DVD containing a audio and video for Lemekeza was sold at the venue.
