OG Issa Group of Companies has disclosed that it has pulled out sponsorship for the Southern Region Netball League (SRNL).

OG Plastic deputy general manager, Francis Mponela, spilled the beans on Saturday after presenting the trophy to champions Diamonds, who beat Complex Tigresses 36-33 during finals of the 2014 season.

“We have enjoyed sponsoring the league for the past five years, but I have to say that this is the last competition to be financially supported by the OG Issa Group of Companies. We might think of coming back in the future,” said Mponela.

Although the news comes barely two months before the 2015 netball season throws off, it has not shocked SRNL chairperson KhungekileMatiya who said they were already notified about the development.

She thanked OG Issa for a five-year cordial relationship, saying: “They were very understanding whenever we faced challenges.”

OG Issa started sponsoring SRNL in 2009 with a K300 000 backing. The support is being withdrawn after it steadily increased to K3.5 million. Under OG Issa sponsorship, Diamonds won the title four times whereas Tigresses won it once.
