Our Talents Arts Theatre plans big for NR

Entertainment-starved city of Mzuzu will soon embrace a season of non-stop theatre performances by newly formed theatre group called Our Talents Arts Theatre.

With three names, Kelvin Kachimanga, Mwai Kumwenda and Chiku Chikhadzula behind the group, they plan massive theatre performances and film shows of their movies once they finish shooting their first movie Fighting for You.

Chairperson of the group Kumwenda in an interview on Sunday said the group is there to celebrate and promote young talent in acting and keep the city busy with activities.

“Malawi has lots of talent, but because there are few platforms where one can showcase the talents, the skills die unnoticed. We have been victims of this, but now we are on a mission and our first project will be ready soon,” he said, adding that their activities are open to talented youths.

Kumwenda said they are working on a number of stage plays as they finalise working on the movie and the messages are youth- centered and designed to shape the mind for prosperity.

He said the group expect to go into action in a few weeks’ time and will start with stage play performances in schools and community centre halls. He added that they are also ready to be hired for any performance and said part of the raised money will be invested in their charity project to cheer patients and prisoners in the Northern Region.

The group was formed in March this year and has 20 members.
