The outgoing Be Forward Wanderers supporters’ committee has launched re-election campaign around its successful fight against violence and hooliganism at Lali Lubani.

During the two-year reign of the outgoing supporter chairperson Dinesi Chitsulo, no major violence incidents were reported at Wanderers matches.

This saw Super League of Malawi (Sulom) awarding the Nomads as most disciplined supporters in 2014 season.

General secretary Herbert Mapira said they believe that the supporters discipline helped the club to secure sponsorship from Be Forward Limited.

“Previously, we used to be associated with violence which cost lives and property. However, in the past two years, our games have been very peaceful,” he said. “We believe that this made it easy for the club to secure sponsorship.”

Meanwhile, Mapira hoped that the team was geared to win more trophies after securing the Carlsberg Cup in the just ended season in which Wanderers finished as Standard Bank Cup runners-up and secured position four in the Super League.

Outgoing chairperson Chitsulo will face Yona Malunga who has promised to make the supporters vibrant.

“I am good at organising morale at stadiums. This is what has been lacking in the past two years. We haven’t been vocal enough,” he said.

The supporters’ polls will be held on January 31 while the new Wanderers main executive committee will be elected on February 7. n
