He said after being approached in 2014 on the distances the students were walking to school, his organisation decided to assist.

“We got a request in June 2014. The area is far from schools. So we thought it wise to have a school here. Long distances affect children’s education,” he said.

Chirwa also commended Nkhata Bay Central member of Parliament (MP) Ralph Mhone (People’s Party-PP) for supplying  bricks and sand to have the school constructed. Mhone also donated books worth K3 million after noting that the school had no library.

Northern Region education division manager Temwa Msiska said since there are only Form 1 students, one of the classrooms will have to be turned into a library while government is trying to look into construction of proper library. n
