Puma Energy on Wednesday pumped the Association of Environmental Journalist in Malawi (AEJ) with K350 000 to assist in its Annual General Meeting (AGM) currently underway in Blantyre.

Puma’s sales and marketing manager Joseph Chafumuka said they made the gesture not just as part of their social and corporate responsibility but most importantly to show their commitment in safeguarding the environment.

“We understand that most of our customers are involved in emitting gases that are unfriendly to the environment. So we need to take part in raising the awareness for creating a safe environment.

“I believe working with the journalists would take the mission even further. Journalists help to unearth environmental stories which in themselves are a form of awareness,” said Chafumuka who assured AEJ of continued support.

Receiving the donation, AEJ’s treasurer general Aubrey Kusakala commended Puma for the gesture.

“We are sincere and we look forward to working with you as partners in creating a safe environment for the future,” he said.

The AGM started on Thursday with media training. On Friday, the meeting will be characterised by choosing new office bearers.
