Road accident kills two in Dedza
Two people, including a one year old child, died in a road accident along the M1 road in Dedza on Saturday night.
Dedza Deputy Police Publicist Cassim Manda said the accident happened at around 10pm when driver of the Toyota Hiace registration number KK4265, Dalitso Kamanga, failed to control the vehicle.
He said the vehicle swayed to the left side of road side and hit a pedestrian, and swayed again to the ride side where it collided with another vehicle.
“Due to the collision, a one year daughter to the driver who was also in the minibus sustained head injuries.
“The child, together with the pedestrian were taken to Dedza District Hospital where they were pronounced dead upon arrival,” explained Manda.
According to Manda, Police later found out that the driver was drunk.
Said Manda: “Kamanga is now in police custody and will answer charges of driving while drunk and causing death.”
Kamanga hails from Mpiko village in the area of Traditional Authority Wimbe in Kasungu.
Police have since warned all drivers against driving under the influence of alcohol.
And you kill your own daughter due to drinking. What an irresponsible father
